UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson yesterday confirmed the news we had all been praying for – golf is back from 2 December! Boris stated that when the four-week national lockdown due to coronavirus comes to an end, outdoor sports will be allowed once again. "I can confirm the national restrictions in England will end on the 2 December and they will not be renewed," said Johnson.
Dustin Johnson and model girlfriend Paulina Gretzky jetted off for a family holiday following the big man’s win at Augusta. England Golf CEO Jeremy Tomlinson is among a group of signatories on a letter to the Prime Minister which makes a compelling case for golf courses to be allowed to stay open during the second national lockdown. The letter argues that golf courses should remain open after the lockdown begins in England at midnight on Thursday. A copy of the letter is provided below.
Sadly following the Prime Minister's announcement Golf courses in England are set to shut when new national lockdown measures come into force at midnight on 5 November. Although a statement from England Golf suggests there may be some room for manoeuvre.
