Kizzire wins Hawaii Open after dramatic play off

Hahn eventually vanquished in 6-hole shoot out

Patton Kizzire and James Hahn fought out a grueling and dramatic six-hole playoff as Kizzire triumphed to win his second US PGA Tour title of the season.

Hahn tore the course up with a 62, putting him in the clubhouse as leader on -17, before Kizzire joined him after a last round 68.

Kizzire, who also won the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in November, finally came out on top of the playoff with a winning par on the 17th, becoming the tour's first two-time winner in 2017-18.

"It was kind of a marathon play-off," Kizzire said. "I was hoping I could make an eagle on the first hole and end it quickly but I'll take it any way I can get it."

Overnight leader Tom Hoge missed out on the chance to join the playoff when he failed to convert a short birdie putt on the closing 18th hole. He shot an even-par 70 to finish at 16-under, with a double bogey on the 16th scuppering his chances of victory.
