American Golf Continues Grassroots Investment
Title sponsor of The Leven Gold Medal opens it up to juniors
Three months on from its Justin Rose Academy launch, which sparked a drive to make golf more accessible to all, American Golf is continuing to invest at the grassroots level with the launch of a Junior Gold Medal competition as part of its investment in The Leven Gold Cup.
As title sponsor of The Leven Gold Medal, American Golf is opening the historic tournament up to children with its inaugural Junior Gold Medal event. The competition, which will take place immediately after the regular competition at Leven Links Golf Course on August 7th 2022, is open to young people up to the age of 16 with a full handicap.
Grassroots support is just one way the retailer is helping make golf more inclusive as it continues its sponsorship of ISPS HANDA World Invitational, The Legends Tour and Rose Ladies Series, in addition to continuing to recruit minority ambassadors, including amputee George Blackshaw; number one world disability golfer, Brendan Lawlor; female golfers Carly Booth and Mia Baker; junior players Leo Boniface and Maybel Brooks, as well as working alongside England Deaf Golf to encourage more hearing impaired and deaf people to play.
Gary Favell, CEO, American Golf, says: “We continue to change the perception of golf and a big part of our inclusive strategy is supporting at grassroots level. We hope that by enabling children to be part of a competition as iconic and historic as The Leven Gold Medal – one that has launched the careers of several professional golfers – that more young people will be inspired to consider taking their golf hobby into a profession.”
American Golf has 94 retail stores across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland while also offering delivery to countries across Europe. To find out everything American Golf has to offer, please visit www.americangolf.co.uk.
