Thomas Bjorn tees it up in Val D'Isere

To mark six months to go until the Ryder Cup

To mark the six-months-to go-before the opening round in the Ryder Cup 2018 at Le Golf National south-west of Paris, the European team captain teed off over the weekend  - at 2,230m above the French ski resort of Val d’Isère.

As one of the world’s most challenging Olympic downhills, the Face de Bellevarde is better known to skiers than golfers. But this didn’t deter Thomas Bjorn as he drove his ball into the white oblivion of the surrounding snowpack.

His symbolic drive was part of Ryder Cup Day at the annual Winter Golf Cup BMW competition which is held each year in the resort.

There to watch him were – Pascal Grizot, organizer of the Ryder Cup 2018; GolfPunk instructor superstar Maria Verchenova; organizer of the Winter Golf Cup Philippe Guilhem: pro golfer Raphael Jacquelin and the mayor of Val d’Isere, Marc Bauer etc.
