Otaegui storms back to take Volvo China Open
Spaniard overturns 5 stroke deficit
Adrian Otaegui reversed a 5 shot deficit to lock in the 5th DP World Tour title of his career at the Volvo China Open; earning a spot in what promises to be a remarkable US PGA Championship at Valhalla later this month. Otaegui’s triumph launched him to third on the Asian Swing leaderboard to earn a spot in the US PGA Championship alongside Söderberg, who won the rankings, and Japan’s Keita Nakajima, who finished second.
Sebastian Söderberg had occupied top spot since Friday, while Saturday’s round was lost due to storms over Shenzhen.
The final round at Hidden Grace Golf Club saw Otaegui explode out of the blocks, with four birdies and five pars to the turn to grab a share of the lead. Birdies at 13, 16 and 17 put him at -18 and the outright lead.

Otaegui said: "I was starting five shots back and I tried to play how I played on Thursday and Friday and think, if things go well, it’s a course where I can have some birdie chances."
“Playing a Major this year was a big goal for me and I’m delighted that I will be at the PGA Championship in two weeks – it will give me just enough time to rest a little bit at home next week and then head to America,"
