After last years heartbreak, being denied the title by Rory's miracle finish, this year saw MacIntyre refuse to go down so easily in stunning finish in final round.

Helped by a very friendly sprinkler head ruling, allowing home favourite Bob a free drop from the deep knee-high rough, the left-hander capitalised with a brilliant approach shot to make an eagle on the par-five 16th.

MacIntyre gain four strokes in his closing five holes to post a three-under 67 finished off by draining 20ft birdie putt on the last. This obviously accompanied by a rowdy and joyous Scottish Open crowd as they joined Bob to celebrate one to never forget in his career.

Australia's Adam Scott couldn't do enough seeing him finish 2nd at 17 under, where Frenchman Romain Langasque finished third on 15 under, with defending champ Rory McIlroy and Ryder Cup hero Ludvig Aberg a further shot back. Swedish rising star and 3rd round leader Aberg, struggled in the final round shooting three-over par 73.

This win sees Robert MacIntyre clinch his 2nd PGA tour win after winning the Canadian Open with his father Dougie on the bag just six weeks ago.

MacIntyre, who reacted with a victorious roar to that winning birdie, was serenaded with a passionate home crowd's rendition of 'Flower of Scotland'.

"I had a tear in my eye before I hit the putt," he said. "I was getting emotional before I read the putt. I still I had a job to do. "This was the one I wanted, and it was the one I got. I can't believe it's happened."

"How do I come down from this?" he asked. "I don't think I will. I think I'm just going to try to ride the wave. The Open means a lot to me, but you've got to celebrate the good times, because it doesn't happen a lot.
"Next week's a new week, but I tell you, I'm going to celebrate hard and we'll pitch up to The Open when we pitch up to The Open."
