Ladies will love the Spa and Wellness Center at Hammock Beach. Drawing from the bountiful resources of their two miles of unspoiled beach, the Spa at Hammock Beach has aligned their product offerings to reflect just that. From thalassotherapy products rich with sea minerals to coquina-laden scrubs, their goal is to enhance your spa experience. With 12 different facial treatments and 14 massage and body treatments available, there is something for everyone.

There are lots of activities to keep the kids busy too. There’s the water park, where they can fly down the water flume or float around the lazy river in the 91,000 square-foot water pavilion. There’s also skim boarding and surfing on the ocean and bicycle rentals. As if that’s not enough, there’s the 18-hole putt-putt course which isn’t necessarily just for the kids. It consists of 18 straight holes, doglegs and even a couple of bunkers, all built on real grass putting surfaces. There’s more than enough things to do to keep the kids busy for long periods of time.

For guys, it’s all about the golf, and why not? You have, at your disposal, two championship golf courses built by two golf legends: Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson. The Ocean Course offers some stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean while the Conservatory Course offers sand – lots of sand!

The Jack Nicklaus-designed Ocean Course shares the same property as the resort while the Watson-built Conservatory course is just a short 10-minute drive away. Both courses have incorporated vital beach elements. The Ocean Course closed in 2016 after Hurricane Matthew wreaked havoc upon it, and reopened in October 2017 as a completely redesigned golf course that is more beautiful than ever. The carnage caused by Matthew along the coastline has opened the course up to expose more of the ocean and offer up better views. Of course along with that comes more wind.

You’ll know what I mean when you play Number 18, a long par 4 regardless of the tees you play. Playing your tee shot down the left center of the fairway is best although not easily done with the wind blowing in off the ocean. If you miss your drive out to the right, you’ll leave yourself a longer approach shot which is complicated by the fact that the green is well elevated. Guarding the green on the left is a dune as well as a deep bunker front left and grass hollows on the right side and behind the green. Make a par or better here and you have accomplished something!

The Conservatory is a Tom Watson design and is the longest golf course in Florida; but it doesn’t have to be! Six sets of tees let you choose the yardage that best fits your game. As you make your way around this beautiful layout you will come across some remarkable sights: waterfalls, babbling brooks and veneered field stone work. Although much of that is on the periphery, there are about 140 sand and coquina bunkers as well as three sod-faced bunkers designed to keep you honest.

Number 18 at the Conservatory is an excellent finishing hole that offers a fantastic view of the golf course from the elevated tee box. Long ball hitters need to be careful of the water on the left side off the tee. For the rest of us mere mortals, the water won’t come into play until the second shot. Even at 600+ yards from the back tees, this hole can be reached in two, by long ballers, but you’ll need enough club to carry the stone bulkhead that guards the green. Golfers need to be aware that the landing area for your layup shot gets very narrow and there are pot bunkers on the edges of the fairway. If you favor the right side of the fairway when you layup, you’ll be left with a short chip shot to a well-guarded green. Believe it or not, #18 does give up a lot of birdies!

Although you don’t have to be staying at the resort to play a round at Hammock Beach, you won’t find tee times on either the Ocean Course or the Conservatory Course on any of the online tee sheets. Golf rounds can be requested and booked through their website.

Hammock Beach Resorts offers a multitude of dining opportunities, not the least of which is the Atlantic Grille. Indoor and outdoor seating is available with views overlooking the Atlantic. The Atlantic Grille features contemporary world cuisine with the emphasis being on fresh seafood.

For starters, try the Lamb Meatballs; the cucumber yogurt dipping sauce compliments the lamb very well. If you’re a seafood lover, you can’t go wrong with the Chilled Seafood Tower for Two, which includes oysters, poached shrimp, mussels, clams and seaweed salad with a variety of sauces. There’s also an option for an oyster tasting. Atlantic Grille’s She-Crab Soup is rich, and thick with plenty of crab. For salads I recommend the Baby Greens which consisted of spring greens, onions, toasted walnuts and goat cheese, served with a lemon honey vinaigrette dressing. All of the ingredients combine for an incredible one of a kind taste. For entrees, you can’t go wrong with the Seafood Cioppino or one of Atlantic Grille’s steaks, cooked just the way you like it.  Everything is presented beautifully and is very tasty.

Another fine dining experience at Hammock Beach worthy of a visit is Delfinos. Delfinos features Italian favorites, as well as Certified Black Angus meat selections from the Butcher's block and tempting seafood specialties. They also have an extensive wine list that includes many European varietals by the glass or retrieved from our cellar.

If you’re looking for something more relaxing after a long day on the golf course or at the beach, check out Loggerheads. They offer an expanded pub menu as well as comfortable and well-appointed surroundings. The drink menu features small batch bourbons, local craft beers and cocktails. There’s even a giant sixteen-foot TV screen, making Loggerheads the perfect spot to watch your favorite sports team in action.

In addition to these dining opportunities there is also the Lobby Bar & Sushi which is a morning favorite for a quick breakfast pastry and a cup of coffee. The Sushi Bar is a small. Intimate restaurant that serves the finest sushi grade fish and freshly prepared varieties of temaki, sashimi and chirashi. The Ocean Bar & Café is surrounded by six acres of multi-level pools and offers dining selections as well as refreshing libations. It’s located on the upper level of the Fantasy Pool Complex.

There are many ways to get to Hammock Beach. Most guests arrive by car, or tour bus; some of the more flamboyant will dock their boats in one of Hammock Beach’s slips. Don’t have a boat? No problem; charter services are available for a variety of activities: sport fishing, sunset cocktail cruises and kayaking.

Hammock Beach offers guests a number of special packages including summer escapes with the family or just a romantic getaway for the two of you.
