Carly Booth eyes dream ticket
Solheim Cup needs a home player

With the Solheim cup a month away they have the Solheim tartan, they even have a tartan fairway what they don’t have is a home player. Yesterday, Carly Booth may have answered Catriona Matthew’s prayers and give the Team Europe captain the excuse she needed to select a fellow countrywoman for the team.
At the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open yesterday Carly Booth shot one of her best rounds of the year, a bogey-free five-under-par 66, which launched her up to joint fifth position, six strokes behind the leader. Booth who won the event back in 2012 must now have one eye on both a tilt at the title but also a hallowed berth in Europe’s Solheim Cup team.
It may be a long shot but a Scottish player is surely what is needed to bring the crowds out and increase the buzz around the event. So if Carly can hold her nerve and shoot another good score in the final round today GolfPunk says 'Come on Catriona pick Carly, she will do you and us proud.'
And yes GolfPunk is biased as Carly has been a columnist for the website and the Golf Nurse at the GolfPunk Clubhouse but she also has the game when the elements turn nasty at Gleneagles. Booth grew up playing in wind and rain a point she focused on after her great round yesterday.
“Sometimes I think the harder, the better. You kind of get back into your old ways where you used to play in the rain, where some might not be so used to it. Not that I want it to rain; I like this weather, but if push comes to shove and that's what it is, you deal with it. I feel like I'll deal with it in the way I know.”
Carly also likes a bit of sunshine as GolfPunk found when they took her to Mauritius for a photo shoot
