The Friday Morning Foursomes at the Solheim Cup have been announced and there are some juicy matches to look forward to.
Match 1: (8.10am local time – 2.01pm UK)
Match one will see the all English pairing of Charley Hull and Melissa Reid take on Lexi Thompson and Cristie Kerr. This match will be explosive with both captain’s putting out some of their top stars early.
Hull and Reid were paired together in 2015 producing a win in the foursomes but Kerr and Thompson have more experience together as they competed in three of the four mixed events together and not losing in 2015.
They know each other very well and play well together. Hull and Reid have a tough start but are more than capable of getting something from this.
Spiv’s prediction: Match Halved
Match 2: (8.22am local time – 2.22pm UK)
Match two sees Danielle Kang and Lizette Salas take on Caroline Masson and Carlota Ciganda. This one could go to the Europeans.
Kang is making her debut and Salas didn’t fair too well in this format in Germany. Ciganda and Masson could work well together with both having good experience in this format.
Spiv’s Prediction: Europe Win

Match 3: (8.34am local time – 2.34pm UK)
Georgia Hall will team up with Anna Nordqvist as Europe take on Paula Creamer and Austin Ernst. With Hall and Ernst both playing in their first Solheim Cup the pressure will really be on Creamer and Nordqvist to steer them home.
An interesting match but perhaps this one could go to the Americans. Creamer thrives at the Solheim Cup and will be desperate to prove the doubters wrong. It’ll be a tight one but I think the USA will just edge this one.
Spiv’s prediction: USA Win
Match 4: (8.46 local time – 2.46pm UK)
The final match of the morning sees Stacy Lewis partner Gerina Piller as the take on the European pairing of Catriona Matthew and Karine Icher.
Whilst Matthew may have been rushed in to cover Suzann Pettersen, there is no doubting her quality here. She partnered Icher in 2015 and walked away with a win. However, the pairing of Piller and Lewis was formidable in 2015. Played two, won two.
Spiv’s prediction: USA Win
USA 2.5
Europe 1.5
So there you have it, some great matches in the morning Foursomes but I think the USA will edge the session by one point.
Let battle commence!
