Paula Creamer makes it to Solheim Cup

As Jessica Korda's replacement

Paula Creamer has been named as Jessica Korda’s replacement for the USA Solheim Cup team. Korda was forced to withdraw following a forearm injury she sustained during the first round of the Ricoh Women’s British Open at Kingsbarns.

USA captain, Juli Inkster, named Creamer as the official alternative on Sunday and informed the European Team as required by the captain’s agreement. However, when asked what will happen in case Korda’s injury meant she could withdraw, Inkster did not publically announce that Creamer has been agreed as an alternative.

When asked why she chose Paula Creamer, Inkster said: “She knows what’s going on. She has the experience. She’s playing well.”

Paula has recently produced some excellent results that have caught the eye of her captain. Her recent trip to Scotland proved to be extremely fruitful where she finished in a tie for 13th at the Ladies Scottish Open and a tie for 16th at the Ricoh Women’s British Open.

This will be Creamer’s seventh Solheim Cup and has currently won 16.5 points for the USA. Following the official announcement made by Inkster, Creamer said: “I’m very honored. I’m ready to wear red, white and blue for the seventh time It’s pretty crazy and I’m excited, but it’s sad under these circumstances.”

The Solheim Cup takes place in Des Moines, Iowa between the 14th-20th of August.
