GolfSpiv calls the Solheim Cup
Here's where the value lies

It’s the Solheim Cup this week and I love it, especially from a betting point of view. It might not be top of your agenda for bets this week but a couple of bets can go a long way here. The options you have are unlike other tournaments and we only get a few chances with team events.
Top team players, correct scores, top rookies, this has it all. So many options to bet on and so many great prices. So without further ado, let’s get this party started.
Top American:
Michelle Wie 13/2 (Ladbrokes)
With Lexi Thompson battling a virus, she may or may not tee it up on Friday. For that reason, I’ll avoid Lexi. Wie has been awesome this season and loves this format. She may have been a little bit under par in Germany, claiming only one point, but we are seeing a different Wie now. Expect the unexpected from her now.
Top European
Mel Reid 14/1 (Betway)
Reid left Germany as the Top European player with three and a half points and a lot has happened to her since then. Gaining her LPGA card has been a confidence boost and a top 30 at the Ricoh shows that on her day she can be contending. However, match play is where she thrives and at these odds, I’d happily bet on her to be Top European.
Day One Fourballs
USA 2.5 - 1.5 (4/1 Bet 365)
The first matches will be the morning Fourballs. For the Rookies, this will be a whole new experience but one they must face. Expect a good mix in the teams, but with home advantage the USA should edge the Fourballs. However, I don’t expect a whitewash. Europe will walk away with something.
Score:
The USA to win 15-13 (7-1 William Hill)
Europe to win 15-13 (16-1 SkyBet)
The US is looking strong and has the advantage of home soil but the Solheim Cup is becoming a really close event nowadays so I expect a good fight from Europe. My heart wants Europe to win but my head says that the USA will win this. The most popular bet at the moment is the USA to win with a score being 15-13. I’m inclined to agree with that. Close but realistic. However, I’ll still have bet with my heart with Europe for the same score.
