Ryder Cup 2023: Six Players Confirmed for Team USA

USA team contains at least three debutants

The six automatic qualifiers for the U.S. Ryder Cup Team are; World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, US Open Champion Wyndham Clark, The 151st Open Winner Brian Harman, Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa and Xander Schauffele.

Following Sunday’s BMW Championship finish, four players joined the previously clinched Scottie Scheffler and Wyndham Clark on U.S. Captain Zach Johnson’s 12-man squad that will face Europe in September in Rome: Brian Harman, Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa and Xander Schauffele.

The 44th Ryder Cup against takes place from 29 September to 1 October at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club near Rome.

Brooks Koepka will need a captain's wildcard if he is to retain his place in the US Ryder Cup team.
The 33-year-old US PGA Championship winner, who plays on the breakaway LIV tour, slipped out of the top six automatic spots on the final weekend of the qualifying process.

If Johnson were to overlook Koepka, with whom he shared a practice round at last month's Open at Hoylak, it would be a highly controversial snub given the PGA Championship Winner's form this season, in both LIV events and majors. But the US skipper has been not been convinced by LIV players throughout his tenure.
"It's hard because I'm not able to witness what they're doing and see their form, with the exception of four events a year," Johnson told the Subpar podcast. "What Brooks has done this year, well no-one's surprised. I'm just glad he's healthy."

Johnson will announce his six picks after this week's Tour Championship, the end of the PGA Tour season.
