Blimey, the Hong Kong Open has got a better field than the Shriners this week.
Not only has Ian Poulter legged it over post haste in a last-ditch bid to secure his Ryder Cup eligibility for 2016, there are world famous golfers everywhere you look: Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Justin Rose, the list goes on.
Despite a disappointing weekend at the Frys.com Open Rose is till clear favourite at around 6/1.
Patrick Reed has taken the scenic route this season by adding European Tour events to his schedule and he's currently 42nd in the Race To Dubai, so he's easily qualified for the DP World Championship towards the end of next month.
Reed made waves at last year's Ryder Cup at Gleneagles with his "Shushing" gestures to the European Tour. A lot of people got upset but we here at GP thought it was pretty entertaining and showed a bit of passion in the USA team. Beside, it didn't work did it? They didn't shush and Europe romped home again.
"I don't have to play as aggressively as I used to and I understand my game more," says Reed. "I can just play within myself and still get the results that I want.
"In a lot of tournaments I've turned mediocre weeks in top 25s and I've turned some top 25s into top 10s where if I played how I had been playing before, it would have gone in the opposite direction.
"I think I will bring some fire, some excitement to Hong Kong. Hopefully they will see how passionate I am about the game, how determined I am to play well."
Well, it seems to b e working as Patrick has only missed two cuts all season. Good luck to the lad.
