Golf. On. Fire.... Justin Thomas just set a new record for the lowest 72-hole score in PGA Tour history after he shot a final-day 65 to win the Hawaii Open.
JT finished an astonishing 27 under par to set the record at 253 strokes, while England's Justin Rose was second on 20 under, a shot ahead of Jordan Spieth.
Watch history here:
It was the fourth successive day that JT entered the record books in Honolulu. He started the tournament by becoming the youngest man to register a sub-60 round on the PGA Tour when he eagled the 18th to shoot a 59. Then he followed that up by shooting the lowest 36-hole total, and then he broke the 54 hole record.
JT's 72 hole score of 253 beat Tommy Armour III's 254 strokes for 72 holes at the Texas Open in September 2003. JT also won last week (he may have a thing for Hawaii...) when he won the SBS Tournament Of Champions at Kapalua. In fact, it may be difficult for the authorities to make him leave the island – JT is -49 for his two Hawaiin tournaments.
"I was really nervous (before the round)," said Thomas. "I just had a hard time getting in a comfortable mindframe. I felt like I was doing what I needed to do and making some pars, besides that bad bogey on four, but that par putt I made on six was huge."
