Georgia Hall MBE

Come on down!

Fantastic news that British Open champion Georgia Hall has been awarded an MBE at the age of 23 in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list. “I couldn’t believe it when I got the letter and it’s such an amazing honour and very cool to have that after my name,” the Bournemouth golfer said.

Cool indeed Georgia and GolfPunk and the nation is proud of you. Who can forget the snub to poor Georgia at the BBC’s Sport Personality of the Year last December when she wasn’t even short listed and was given a cursory mention by the boy Lineker. Let’s hope this goes some way to make up for that embarrassing night.

Hall won the Women’s British Open at Royal Lytham in August 2018, leading on to her collecting her second consecutive Ladies European Tour order of merit title in late November. The 2017 Solheim Cup player was also voted as the ‘Players’ Player of the Year’ for the second successive season by her peers on tour.

Hall joins Britain’s most successful female golfers in being honoured, alongside Laura Davies DBE, Alison Nicholas MBE, Catriona Matthew MBE and Dale Reid OBE.

Come on Charley, Bronte, Jodi et al we want more gongs for the British women’s game!

And another thing...

McDowell still in the mix
