English Pro WDs from Web.com event on verge of getting his PGA Tour card

As his wife goes into labour

Englishman David Skinns withdrew from the web.com Tours Albertsons Boise Open on Saturday, with a PGA Tour card on the line. But he did it with good reason – his wife had gone into labour!

35-year-old Skinns made it through to the Web.com Tour finals for the first time ever, due to a T2 at the WinCo Foods Portland Open in August.

He missed the cut at the first final event, the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship, but was in good form at the Boise Open.

He posted rounds of 69 and 66 to get to seven under for the tournament, and was laying T9.

If he could finish within the top 5, a PGA Tour card would be his for the first time ever.

But it was not to be, as he WD’d to return home to Georgia, and his pregnant wife.

Skinns will have two more opportunities to earn his tour card at the DAP Championship and the Web.com Tour Championship. And he might have that extra bit of motivation now to help get him over the time.

Skinns turned professional in 2005, and was educated at the University of Tennessee. He is also the published author of ‘Coalition Government Penal Policy 2010 – 2015: Austerity, Outsourcing and Punishment.' Now that’s one for the reading list.
