Butch To Drink Jimmy Walker's Gift
Good time to open $1,200 bottle of vino
Words: Daniel Owen
We've been introduced to the idea of car wine recently. We're unsure if it's legal bit it involves unruly passengers drinking wine from plastic cups while the designated driver tries to block them out. We think Butch Harmon and Jimmy Walker could soon be instigating RV wine following Jimmy Walker winning the PGA Championship.
When Jimmy Walker first started working with Butch, he tried paying for his lessons, but Butch refused to take any money from him. So Jimmy bought him a $1,200 bottle of Chateau Margaux. Butch took it but refused to drink it, saying he'd open the bottle after Walker "won his first major."
A pretty big statement considering Walker hadn't even won on the PGA Tour at that point. But five wins in 18 months through 2015-16, and now winning the PGA, have proved that Butch was on to something.
"I’m not opening that bottle till I visit his house and pour that wine into that big old Trophy,” Butch said about uncorking the bottle of vino. Butch, mate, why wait until he gets back to Texas, meet him in his house with wheels and get supping as soon as you can. And the Wanamaker is a big trophy, you might need to pick up a few more bottles to fill it. As we said. RV wine. Give John Daly a ring. He might have some tips...
