OCEANTEE becomes a member of 1% for the Planet
Green brand joins global network of businesses
OCEANTEE, the sustainable golf brand, has become a member of 1% for The Planet. This global network of businesses, individuals non-profit organisations collaborate to tackle the planets most pressing environmental issues.
Environmentally conscious businesses, like OCEANTEE, donate 1% of their sales back to the environment – whether they are profitable or not.
The platform also allows consumers to identify businesses and services, like OCEANTEE, who are dedicated to creating sustainable products that have as little impact as possible on the environment. By buying from members of the 1% for The Planet network consumers also know that 1% of their purchase goes towards helping non-for-profit organizations delivering exceptional projects around the world.
“1% may not sound like much, but when we all commit to being just a little better—1% adds up,” comments Edward Sandison, founder of OCEANTEE.
“Just imagine. Based on the latest R&A figures, if every golfer around the world - that’s 66 million by the way - switched to a pack of our OCEANTEE bamboo tees, we’d be donating nearly £2 MILLION to vital projects around the world, as well as reducing the amount of plastic in our seas!”
1% for the planet started when Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies bonded over their shared love for the outdoors. Since their beginnings, they have certified more than $250 million in support to approved environmental non-profits.
Yvon Chouniard describes membership of the 1% for The Planet network as an essential running cost, “This is not philanthropy. This should be a cost of doing business. It’s paying rent for our use of the planet.”
The OCEANTEE range now includes Drinks Bottles, Men’s and Women’s clothing as well as its award-winning bamboo tee range and can be bought direct online at www.oceanteegolf.com.
