Murrayshall Country House Hotel and Golf Club, the jewel in the crown of the Perthshire countryside, has announced the appointment of Clarke Lutton as its new Head of Golf.
Aberdeenshire-born and former touring professional Clarke, a well-known figure in the global golf industry, joins Murrayshall from Gleneagles where he held the position of PGA Professional from 2018. Previous to this, Lutton's international experience included roles at The Brisbane Golf Club, Australia and the Doha Golf Club, Qatar, where he worked for 11 years.
Prior to his teaching career, Lutton enjoyed a successful career as a tour player, both on the Asian and European Tours. He brings with him a wealth of experience to Murrayshall, having played alongside some of golf’s most famous names such as Rory McIIroy and Bryson Dechambeau. Clarke was also privileged to work with Justin Parsons at the Butch Harmon School of Golf and cites his career highlight to be winning on the MENA Tour in 2015 at the Golf Citizen Classic at the Els Club in Dubai.

“Having travelled the world and lived abroad from the age of 14, I have experienced some of the best golf courses and practice facilities in the world. Being around these facilities, as well as working alongside some of the best instructors in the game during my playing career, has shown me how these world-class facilities operate. It has also allowed me to understand what it takes to present a course in a way that is not only fit for day-to-day enjoyment for members and guests but also championship set-ups fit for European tour events. I aim to use this knowledge to help the overall look and playability of Murrayshall Golf Course,”

Lutton arrives at Murrayshall as it eagerly awaits the decision of a planning application that would see the hotel and estate elevated to a world-class level resort to rival the greats. Commenting on this important announcement, Gary Silcock, General Manager at Murrayshall, said: “I'm incredibly excited by Clarke's appointment and his addition to our team, which is working hard to develop one of Perthshire’s top golf clubs into an even bigger facility nationally. His global experience and expertise will be a huge asset as we continue to invest in our golf business and customer experience. His industry knowledge and tournament preparation will be invaluable, and he will be sure to help us create one of the strongest teams in the golfing world.”
“I really believe that the club and estate is destined to become one of the go-to places for golf within Scotland and the UK and I will truly relish the opportunity to help Murrayshall grow, both as a resort and a golf course,” says Lutton
“With the proposed development of Murrayshall, we will re-set the bar, not just on the golf courses, but also with the provision of enhanced practice facilities and a whole new lifestyle experience within the estate, for all members and guests to enjoy. Clarke is just the type of home-grown talent we need to take this forward,” comments Gary Silcock.
