While Justin Rose prepares for his first competitive round in months, he and his wife are doing their bit for the women professionals back home. The couple has stumped up £35,000 as prize money for the series of events that kick off at Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club on 18 June.
The Rose Ladies Series will take place through June and July and allow players from the Ladies European Tour and the junior tours to get some competitive golf.
"It was fairly obvious that women in sport in general and not just in golf but across the board have been having a struggle, as have many people through Covid-19. It is so important for the mental health of the female pros to get back to work and see their colleagues again. We are very happy that we can do our bit because of the life golf has given us." Rose told The Telegraph.
"The prize money is modest because it is me throwing in some money and then the ladies are paying an entry fee and being able to play for a pot. We wanted to give them the opportunity to play and to be ready for when the opportunities arise later in the summer." Said Rose, who it is believed is contributing £35,000 to the prize funds.
Rose tees up in his first event, the Charles Schwab Challenge, on Thursday which will be his first competitive outing since The Players Championship halted mid-event back in March.
