Wonder Wall at the Paul Lawrie Matchplay

Beats Alex Noren by 1 up

It's been a long, long wait for Anthony Wall

England’s Anthony Wall won his first European Tour title in more than 16 years by beating Alex Noren of Sweden 1 up in the final of the Paul Lawrie Match Play this afternoon.

Noren won the Scottish Open in July, and was 2 up after two holes over the Archerfield links in what were the toughest conditions of the week. But that was his lot, as he did not win another single hole.

Wall won Nos. 3, 6 and 11, to get back to one over. Noren then missed a birdie putt from 12 feet at the par-5 eighteenth that would have leveled the game and taken it into extra holes.

Wall's only previous title was at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in 2000, a massive 16 years ago. Clearly patience rewarded.

Congrats from Paul Lawrie the event host
