Webb Simpson extends his Players Championship lead
Catch him if you can......

Barring a miracle or a total meltdown, it is pretty much safe to say that Webb Simpson has this one in the bag, as he shoots a four under 68 to extend his lead to seven shots.
And when you are playing this well, then you are really having a one to one discussion with the golfing gods. Check out this fantastic bunker shot, which bagged Simpson another eagle.
But the other story of the day has to be Tiger's stellar performance, as he tied for the low score of the day with a 65. He was out fast with birdie, birdie, and had six birdies in total on his front nine to make the turn in 30. This was proper moving day action. Two further birdies and a single bogey on the par four 14th saw him T9 with Jordan Spieth, who also went low today with another 65.
Woods’s 65 was his best round of the year, and also a career low for the Players, which he won in 2001 and 2013, and which puts his performance today into perspective. His gander is clearly properly back, and I would have to say that he is now over-delivering against expectation so early on in his return to competitive golf. Maybe Rory McIlroy could draw some inspiration from Tiger, after another disappointing performance, and a missed cut.
Ian Poulter also deserves a mention in dispatches. He was going along nicely, until he stumbled with a double bogey on the 18th, but he still managed to post a 69, and is very much continuing his recent run of form. Now his attention will switch back to to the European Tour, and we all know what is on his mind.
