He wowed us at the Open in St Andrews, and he secured the Walker Cup win at Lytham. Now Irish golfer Paul Dunne has turned professional.
Paul Dunne: Royal & Ave It!
Dunne, 22, was joint leader at 12 under after three rounds at St Andrews, but couldn't keep it going (bit harsh! – he was up against Jordan Spieth, Louis Oosthuizen and Zac Johnson – Ed).
Anyway, Paul said: "I am really excited to begin this next chapter in my golf career."
Unfortunately, that's all he's said about it as far as we can tell. His fellow Walker Cup team mate Gavin Moynihan, who turned pro just before the Italian Open, was equally effusive when he declared: "It is a very exciting time for me and I just can't wait to get started in Italy." Moynihan missed the cut, finishing 150th in Italy.
Not quite sure how he got in in the first place? We thought you had to go to Q-School first. What do we know?
Gavin Moynihan: Not yet an Italian Stallion
Dunne will be hoping for a more encouraging debut, as will the third member of the Walker Cup team to turn pro, Ashley Chesters. Which sounds a bit like a porn name...
Good luck, lads! We'll be keeping an eye and an ear out.
Ashley Chesters: Ruder Cup here we come.
