Turkish Airlines Open Day 2

The Wrap

South African Jaco Van Zyl carded a second round 69 after an opening 61, to stay ahead by two shots from a charging Richard Bland, who shot a seven under 65.

Bland is tied second with Chris Wood on 12 under. In fourth is Victor Dubuisson, one shot behind. He shot a bogey free 64, and is tied with Fabrizio Zanotti.

"Eez good forryouu, izgood forrrmeee"

This was still not the best score of the round. That belonged to a certain Matthew Fitzpatrick, who shot a glorious nine under 63 to make up for a one over 73 start yesterday. This has propelled him up into a share of 11th with Andrew Johnson, Lee Slattery and Rafa Cabrera-Bello.

Rory McIlroy has carded two rounds of 67 to finish four back at the halfway stage, tied sixth with Alexander Levy. He ‘ll be happy enough with that.

It was not such a good day for Lee Westwood, who shot his lowest round of the season yesterday with a 64, and then insisted he was aiming at going even lower on Friday. That didn’t quite happen, as all he could manage was a one under 71. He's now tied eighth at nine under with Kiradech Aphibarnrat, and Graeme McDowell, who had a much better day with a seven under 64.

Danny Willett, Rory McIlroy's nearest contender for the Race to Dubai, shot a two under 70 and is tied 25th in a group of nine which includes Ian  Poulter and David Howell.

Everything's nicely poised for moving day. We think there will be a new leader by close of play tomorrow, and would not be in the least bit surprised if it was Rory.
