The House of Commons has debated whether or not Donald Trump should be allowed into the UK, after an on-line petition secured over 570,000 e-signatures after Trump’s call to ban all Muslims from entering the USA. And it looks like the Donald can come back any time he wants for a quick round.
The Home Office has said Donald Trump must live up to his promise of investing in Britain, as British MPs branded the Republican candidate a 'buffoon, demagogue and wazzock'.
Tory MP, Alex Chalk, said Mr. Trump's comments "must be met with the classic British response of ridicule."
Nothing actually got decided, and there was no vote per se, but MPs agreed that they had ‘duly considered’ the petition. So that’s about that, until he insults someone else, which should be any time about now.
Meanwhile the Donald was out campaigning in Virginia, and made no mention of the debate in the UK. After his speech evangelical Christian students queued on masse to shake hands with him.
Yesterday, back in Turnberry, protesters from left wing group RISE occupied the hotel, and the Trump International in Aberdeenshire.
A statement released by RISE says: " Donald Trump is currently one of the world's most prominent racists. We aim today to disrupt, however briefly, Trump's ability to generate profit in Scotland that will then be spent on his campaign of racist demonisation and scapegoating in the US."
The Scottish Government has also stripped Trump of his ‘Global Scot’ status.
So the Donald remains free to come and go as he pleases, and probably doesn’t give a trump.
