Tiger Woods has been invited to play in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at the K Club on May 19-22.
This could potentially see Woods teeing it up with Rory McIlroy, who is hosting the event.
The European Tour have also invited all the players in the European and American teams from the 2006 Ryder Cup, including their captains Ian Woosnam and Tom Lehamn to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the match.
With Rory as host there’s a better chance of pulling in a stronger team, and the timing may just work as the Irish Open will take place between The Players Championship and the Memorial Tournament.
Tiger is trying to get fit so that he can appear in The Masters. But will he want a trip to Ireland? The K Club is hardly a source of happy memories for him. Let’s see if Rory can pull this one off.
Antonia Beggs, the European Tour’s promoter for the Irish Open, has also insisted ‘the question will definitely be asked’ of Woods to play.
