Tiger Woods will tee it up at The 147th Open Championship at Carnoustie in July, it has been confirmed.
Tiger has won the Claret Jug three times to date, with victories in 2000, 2005, and 2006. He has played Carnoustie twice, finishing seventh in 1999 and 12th in 2007.
He last played in the Open at St Andrews in 2015, when he missed the cut with rounds of 76 and 75.
Tiger is now confirmed for the Open, and the US Open - but not as yet for the PGA. So with his appearance at The Masters, that will mean he is now going to play in at least three of the fours majors, as well as The Players, otherwise known as the fifth major.
It will be welcome news at the R&A, as Tiger’s first appearance in the UK for three long years, will certainly be a great boost for visitor numbers. Carnoustie is not the most accessible of courses, but with Tiger on the tee, the crowds will come out.
