The stars come out to play for Tony Jacklin
At his Belfry golf day

Some of the biggest stars from the world of sport and entertainment will come together on 5th September for Tony Jacklin CBE’s annual charity golf day. Hosted at the award–winning Belfry Hotel and Resort, the course has played host to the Ryder Cup on four occasions.
Special guest on the day is Bernard Gallacher OBE who succeeded Tony as Europe’s Ryder Cup captain in 1991 and who guided them to victory over the United States in 1995. With ten European Tour wins to his name, he will once again be taking to the course. Competing eight times in the Ryder Cup he became Great Britain’s youngest ever player when he represented them in the competition in 1969.
With 24 teams competing on the day, the event sees a stellar list of celebrities taking part. One of the biggest names taking part is former England rugby captain Mike Tindall MBE. Part of England’s triumphant World Cup winning team in 2003, he played 75 times for England and forged a reputation as one of the best centres in the world. Welsh rugby legend and Lions star Shane Williams MBE will be joining Tindall on the day.
Other notable names in attendance include: former England cricketer Matthew Hoggard MBE, Scottish rugby stars Max and Thom Evans, ex–Team GB athletes Derek Redmond and Kriss Akabusi MBE. Actor Jamie Foreman former professional snooker player John Virgo, and ex–Premier League striker Kevin Davies will also be in attendance. More star names from the world of sport and entertainment are set to be announced.
Tony Jacklin CBE is delighted to see so many accomplished sportspeople taking part and said: “It is great to see so many big names involved in the golf day, it is sure to be a fantastic occasion and will raise money for a great cause. Unfortunately, I cannot be there on the day but my good friend Bernard Gallacher OBE has kindly stepped up to the role of event host.”
The event is kindly sponsored by specialist frozen food retailer Farmfoods, bookmakers William Hill, The Belfry hotel and spa, VPAR Live Golf, Liberty, Paradise Promotions, Bentley Leicester, Lamborgini Leicester, Barbados Tourism Marketing and Inspirational Magazine. Clothing brand Glenbrae will also be providing the shirts for players to wear on the day.
The event will be raising much needed funds for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People who care for children suffering with life threatening and life limiting illnesses.
