Shubhankar Sharma wins the Maybank Championship

In a great day for Indian golf, 21-year-old Shubhankar Sharma has claimed the Maybank Championship with a stunning round of 62 to beat Jorge Campillo, Pablo Larrazabal and Ryan Fox by two clear shots.

Sharma shot 10 birdies in a dazzling closing round of 10-under-par 62 to finish 21-under for the tournament.

“I played pretty solid and it wasn’t easy because it was windy,” Sharma.

“I kept pushing the whole day. I knew I had to make a lot birdies to catch the leaders. I made a lot of birdies on the front nine and just continued on the back.” 

With his two wins already this season, Sharma has now gone to the top of the Race to Dubai Rankings!
