Rory lookalike

This Rory McIlroy lookalike was no match for Barry McGuigan, who called him out straight away.

At the Daily Mirror Pride of Sport awards earlier this week, for 34-year-old Rory double, Damien Power, there were no shortage of photo opps.

Former boxer McGuigan was at the event though - and he was one of the few, Damien said, that realised he was not the famous Northern Irish golfer.

"I was brought in as a lookalike for Rory McIlroy," the Waterford man told Belfast Live.

"The only one that copped on was Barry McGuigan. The rest thought I was Rory.

"A couple of people took pictures with me and others were saying well done because he'd obviously had the big win in Dubai last week."

"I thought it was really weird - surely they must know I'm not the real thing."

Barry caught on immediately though.

"Barry came over. He was walking past and he spotted me. I think for a moment he might have thought I was Rory but then he said: "Ah you're one of those lookalikes!"

Given that Rory is rather more athletic, eight years younger, and with a lot less beer in his face, it wasn’t that hard a take.
