Rory finishes his dinner
Back in contention with an Eagle

Rory McIlroy almost hit the pin from 268 yards out on his final hole to set up a tap in Eagle and a place in the final three-ball for the fog delayed third round.
This was quite some turn around, as he was one-over after 16 holes, and five shots behind Andy Sullivan, the clubhouse leader. It also looked like he was facing his first birdie-less round since the Irish Open last may.
But something clicked on the 17th, and he hit the pin for from way out to secure a precious birdie.
He then blasted a fairway wood 268-yard on the par-five 18th, which was almost a career-first albatross. He only had a two-footer putt for an eagle to card a two under 70.
He is now just two shots behind Andy Sullivan, whose amazing form continues, and is right back in it.
"I said, let's finish 3-3 and I was able to. I knew 18 was a chance and 17 playing downwind, I would have a wedge in there," said McIlroy.
"I felt it was downwind and if I had let the driver get a little bit right at all I had a chance of going into the water. I couldn’t hole from outside two feet so I thought I’d hit a couple of shots within two feet on the last two holes. It glossed over a pretty average round."
"I’m hitting the ball well tee to green,” he said. “I feel there were a couple of misreads rather than actually anything that was wrong on the greens. The game feels good, good enough to win this week.”
The third round is now under way, and four players have made a move. Poulter is at time of writing five under through 13, Rickie Fowler in 4 under through 11, and Branden Grace is six under through 16.
There are five players sitting on 10 under, including Rory who is two under through nine. There’s plenty more thrills and spills to come on this one.
Jordan Spieth is in the clubhouse at seven under, whilst the amateur Bryson DeChambeau is also on seven under, and is plus one for the day through nine.
