It's amazing what a bit of sunshine and a laugh with your mates can do. At the Masters Rickie Fowler shot a first round 80 to blow any chance of winning his maiden major. At the Wells Fargo last night, Fowler shot a 68 to take the lead.
Fowler has started winning more regularly, and he'll be expected to close out at the event where he won his first PGA Tour event in 2012. "It's completely different," Fowler said. "I would say before (it was) maybe not the complete belief or knowledge of knowing what to do and how to win to get the job done. But now it's fun to go out there and go take care of business."
After a slow start Fowler made three straight birdies from the 7th, then did it again from the 14th, after posting two bogies in between.
Phil Mickelson had a day to forget, shooting a 76 with a quadruple bogey on the 18th. His second shot ended up in the water, before taking three chips to get on the green!.
Rory McIlroy is the only two time champion on the Quail Hollow Track that will hold next year's PGA Championship, but he could only muster a 73. Check out this ridiculous putt he holed last night, though...
