Rafael Nadal Backs Spanish Ryder Cup Bid

Ahead of the US Open, Spanish tennis ace and 14-time Grand Slam winner, Rafa Nadal has joined the Costa Brava Barcelona 2022 pitch team.
As he seeks a return to form at this month’s US Open, Spain’s most successful tennis player has spoken of his other sporting passion – golf!
On the tennis court, 2015 has been a year to forget for Rafael Nadal – but when seeking an escape from the pressure of Tour life, the 29-year-old turns to the golf course.
Speaking of the chance to bring The 2022 Ryder Cup to PGA Catalunya Resort, the proposed venue for the Spanish bid to host the prestigious biennial match, Nadal said: “Golf is one of my favourite sports. I would love to see the Ryder Cup come to Spain.”
Nadal is the latest Spanish sporting great to lend his support to Spain’s bid to bring The 2022 Match to Catalunya – joining José María Olazábal, Sergio García, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Pep Guardiola and Xavi Hernández as bid ambassadors.
Ryder Cup Europe will announce the successful host nation in Autumn 2015.
