Paul Casey pressing for the Olympics

Only two guaranteed places available

Paul Casey is behind Justin Rose and the on-form Danny Willett for a place at the Olympics. He’s still very much hoping that he can play in Rio this year. He’s motivated for sure.

"I'm all in for trying to get to Rio," Casey said to the UK’s Daily Mail. "I would love to be part of that mix. People have questioned the legitimacy of golf being there but I don't really care. I want to be part of it and sample the atmosphere. I would love to be involved in that team aspect of things and the chance to represent your country."

With Casey likely to miss out on the Ryder Cup, unless he has a sudden change of heart, which seems highly unlikely, the Olympics would be a bonus for him. But what we like is the fact that he seems properly excited by the prospect of representing his country there, and being part of something altogether bigger.

Rio? Straight ahead, turn left at the lights.
