Morgan Pressel Foundation raises $1m for Breast Cancer
Stars turn out in force for big event

It is sometimes all too easy to assume that life on the LPGA is one of victories on the course. For Morgan Pressel there was another victory of a different kind today as for her foundation raised $1 Million Dollars towards the fight against Breast Cancer.
The annual event held at the St. Andrews Country Club in Florida saw some of the biggest names of the LPGA gather to play in this charity fundraiser. Stars included Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis, Lydia Ko, Lexi Thompson, Cristie Kerr, Sandra Gal, Brittany Lincicome and of course, Morgan Pressel.
For Morgan, this is of course personal. She said that “Breast cancer has been a part of my life since I was 11 years old. That's when my parents sat the three of us down at the kitchen table—my sister was three years younger than me and my brother five years younger—and Dad told us our mother was sick. They were trying to explain to three little kids that their mother has a life-threatening illness, and we just didn't understand. My mom, Kathy Krickstein Pressel, was 39 that day. Four years later breast cancer took her from us.”
Tragically she lost her mother to Breast Cancer in 2003. Morgan was only 15 at the time. Since becoming a professional she has passionately devoted time to the foundation that has raised millions towards the fight against Breast Cancer. The Morgan Pressel Foundation was set up not only to remember her mother but also to raise funds to fight cancer as well as to support those coming to terms to with the diagnosis and their families.
Thanks to kind donations, people’s time and efforts the Foundation has flourished and helped thousands of people who face this difficult battle. Golfhacker salutes you Morgan on this fantastic achievement.
