Masters winner joins 2018 British Par 3 Championship

Ian Woosnam OBE has been confirmed as one of the first professional players for this years Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship
Ian will take part in the professional championships events over the course of the four-day event. The 1991 Masters champion is one of the biggest names in the world of golf and has 51 professional career wins to his name, 29 of which came on the European Tour. And the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship are thrilled to have him return.
Topping the European Tour’s Order of Merit twice in his extremely successful career, last year saw the Welshman inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame which boasts the likes of Seve Ballesteros, Sir Nick Faldo and Jack Nicklaus amongst its members. At the peak of his career, Ian spent a remarkable 51 weeks at the top of the World Golf Rankings.
‘Woosie’ as he is affectionally known within the sport, will return to Nailcote Hall this summer to take part in the 2018 edition of the Championship where he will be hoping to get his hands on the coveted trophy, and the €50,000 prize that comes with it. He will be joined on the Cromwell course by two-time Major winner, Tony Jacklin CBE, who is back as tournament host with more names set to be announced in the coming weeks.
As tournament host, Tony is delighted to see Ian confirmed for this year’s event. He said: “Ian is one of the best golfers of his generation and has won some of the world’s biggest events in the sport during his career. I am thrilled that he will be back at this year’s Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship and am looking forward to seeing him in action.”
