Major changes at the Belfry

Say farewell to the Bel Air

The Belfry is planning to expand its rooms by more than a third, replace its Bel Air nightclub with a luxury spa, create a new 500–seat conference facility and a new indoor waterpark.

The new look will be aimed at attracting families.
The proposals involve converting the legendary Bel Air nightclub into a new state of the art spa.

There will also be a new indoor waterpark designed by ‘internationally renowned’ water park designer WTI, which has designed numerous water parks in the US, Europe and Australia.

There are plans for an additional 112 hotel bedrooms, up from the present 320 rooms, with 40 of those rooms directly connected to the new spa.

The new conference facility will be able to hold 700 guests for banqueting and ballroom functions.

The Belfry Hotel and Resort’s owner, KSL Capital Partners, has appointed national planning and development consultancy Lichfields to progress the application on its behalf.

Ian Kettlewell, planning director at Lichfields, said: “These proposals encompass a substantial investment and overhaul of the existing resort and venue.

“The aim is to develop and improve on The Belfry’s current offering making the hotel and resort more attractive to families.”

The development will create 100 new jobs, with the venue currently employing 674 full time staff.

But it is good night to the legendary Bel Air, the scene of many a late night post–golf libation.
