Lexi Thompson, who won the event in 2014, finished her second round on Saturday morning after severe wind delays had pushed the second round into Saturday. She holds a one–shot lead, but there is strong chasing pack.
Thompson shot a 67, which equalled the best round of the tournament so far. "I played well for the eight holes yesterday [Friday] and made a couple good putts, so definitely it brought me some confidence going into today, and I started off with a good first two birdies on the first two holes," Thompson said.
"My game is in a good spot. I just have to focus on doing one shot at a time and just focus on just doing my routine and relaxing."
Michelle Wie shot a second round three–under 69 and is tied for second with Suzann Pettersen, So Yeon Ryu, and Sung Yeon Park.
"I feel comfortable. I'm having a lot of fun out there," Wie said. "I'm really excited to play 18 more holes today, make some more birdies hopefully. Yeah, I'm really happy with where I've positioned myself so far, so for the next two rounds hopefully I can keep it going."
Charley Hull is T12 on four under as she could only shoot a level par 72, against her opening round four under. She's still only four shots behind before moving day, so there is a real opportunity for her to move up the leaderboard.
Meanwhile Melissa Reid is back T41 after two rounds of 72. Given the state of her back, she will be pleased with her progress and to have made the cut.
