European golf legend Ian Woosnam has based his new indoor swing room around SkyTrak, golf’s most affordable launch monitor and simulator.
In summer 2018 the 61-year-old Welshman saw a SkyTrak in action while making plans to convert some space at his home in Jersey, and decided that it was the right technology for his home setup.
After the conversion, which was completed in December 2018, Woosnam began to use SkyTrak both to sharpen his game for tournament play, and as a source of entertainment for golfing friends.
“SkyTrak helps me to produce my best golf” said Woosnam. “It gives me everything I need to work on my game including golf course simulation. With it I can now practice at home whenever I want. It’s proven to be accurate and easy to use, and also has a wealth of choice as regards golf courses.
“SkyTrak helps me to stay match-fit and keeps my game sharp before tournaments. I can also pick it up and take it with me when I travel to Barbados, where I can just set it up at my place over there – so it’s the ideal launch monitor for my busy schedule."
‘Woosie’, as he is known to millions of golf fans worldwide, is still a regular Top 10 finisher on the Staysure Tour, with his last win coming at the Dutch Senior Open in 2014. In 2008, in his first year on what was then called the European Seniors Tour, he won the Order Of Merit and he is a five -time winner on the Tour.
In his distinguished professional career to date the Jersey resident has scored 52 professional wins, including the 1991 Masters. He was the first golfer to win more than £1 million in prize money in a single year, and spent 50 weeks as the World No.1. He won the World Matchplay
Championship in three different decades, represented Wales in 14 World Cups, and played 8 times in The Ryder Cup, captaining Team Europe to victory in 2006 at The K Club with a record-equalling winning score.
Woosnam has been using his SkyTrak intensively in recent weeks, to prepare for playing in the Masters tournament in early April.
On using SkyTrak for ball and equipment testing, Ian Woosnam said: “I needed something which I could get my numbers on” he said, “and since having the SkyTrak installed I have used it to test different golf balls, looking ahead to the 2019 Staysure Tour season. It has also been useful when looking at changing shafts.
“And when friends have come around to play golf, it has been absolutely great. I have a wonderful social area now at home, perfect for indoor golf, with the SkyTrak at the centre of the setup.
