Here's a game of two halves if there was ever one!

Jorge Fernandez-Valdez goes low and then.....

If ever there was a game of two halves, it must be that of PGA Tour Latinoamerica’s Jorge Fernandez-Valdez. Here’s why.

He may only the 835th ranked player in the world, but the 25-year-old Argentine clearly knows how to knock it around.

He got off to an amazing start at the Lexus Peru Open, with eight birdies in his first nine holes, and a solitary par on the par four 5th, to make the turn in a stunning 28.

So far so good: but then his form changed. The birdies were replaced with a run of five pars, before he dropped the first shot of his round on the par four 15th. He steadied the ship with a par on the 16th, before another dropped shot on the 17th.

But he was to save the worst until last, when he had a quadruple bogey on the 18th to post a back nine score of 42, a whole 24 shots worse than his first nine.

If ever there was a game of two halves, it has to be this one. Still, he posted a 70, and he made the cut. He’s now T18 going into the final round.
