Foxhills Club & Resort kicks off the awards season

With double success

Foxhills Club & Resort’s has kicked off the awards season in style with double success.

The ambitious club, based in Ottershaw, Surrey, has further enhanced its reputation in recent times as an exceptional and diverse leisure experience with two 18-hole championship golf courses – Longcross and Bernard Hunt – the nine-hole par-three Manor course, 11 tennis courts and a wealth of attractive dining and accommodation options.

The addition of a new short-game practice area, scheduled to open in the spring, promises to enhance the experience even further in 2019, but the overall Foxhills experience has already been recognised by two of the UK’s leading golf media outlets.

In Golf World’s Top 100 golf courses in England, the Longcross has made an impressive move up the standings to achieve a new ranking of 95 – a rise of four places from the last edition.

With an overall score calculated on categories of design quality, setting, playability, presentation, memorability and hole consistency, the Longcross was praised for its “intense desire to continually improve”. And despite the huge competition in Surrey, it was also tipped for future progression in the face of “stern competition in the area from bigger-name clubs, but more than holds its own and has the potential to rise even further”.

The reviews for Foxhills were also glowing on Golfshake.com, which has seen it listed as one of 76 venues to be included in the Outstanding Courses 2018.

The popular website collates more than 16,000 course reviews at 3,000 courses from golfers. And Foxhills received top billing after 25 independent reviews gave a recommendation rating of 100% – a feat just 76 courses achieved, but also matched by sister venue Farleigh, which has also made impressive strides in recent times as part of the Foxhills Collection.

Foxhills director of golf Chris Fitt said: “It’s a competitive environment and it takes a huge amount of dedication and a serious team effort to achieve these awards, so it’s fantastic to gain this sort of recognition.

“It can’t be done without everyone buying into the project and ensuring our members and guests get a memorable and enjoyable experience at our resort and courses.

“But we always feel there is room for improvement. Our new short-game practice area is further evidence of our commitment to making the entire Foxhills experience as good as it can possibly be and we will continue to put in the work to raise the bar.”

Aside from the golf, the spa and gym facilities at Foxhills recently claimed success at the National Fitness Awards, while the historic Manor House restaurant is set to for refurbishment as part of an extensive upgrade project at the resort.
