Fancy a cottage with a lovely nine–hole in the garden?
You'll need a spare £700,000
Words: James Greenwood
Here’s a lovely cottage that comes with its own nine-hole golf course in the garden, but you’ll need a spare £700,000.
It’s a 16th century thatched property, on the market for £695,000, and also includes a bowling green set within two acres of grounds.
Set on a peaceful hillside near the village of Bosbury, Herefordshire, the four-bedroom home has been owned by a family of golfing enthusiasts for more than 50 years.
It dates back to 1580 but the golf course wasn’t built until 1982.
The home is on the market with estate agents Knight Frank, and also includes two summer houses, a bowling green which can also be used a lawn tennis court, a clubhouse and a woodland walk by a stream.
Mr. Hughes, 65, a businessman who runs three companies, said: ‘My wife’s father was a keen golfer so he got a professional golfer called Frank Miller to design a nine-hole reversible pitch and putt course.
‘That was built in 1982. It needs a full-time gardener to maintain it – we have more lawnmowers than the average garden centre – but it works really well.’
So if you have green fingers, a love of a sit–on mover, and a decent golf game, this could be your ideal property.
