Danny Willett's brother PJ has defended his unfortunate Ryder Cup article in today's Telegraph
In an exclusive with the broad sheet giants, PJ said, amongst other things, this:
"I need to hold my hands up. In hindsight, the timing was atrocious. I wrote the piece over a number of evenings with a big push on the pre-Ryder Cup weekend. Then the unimaginable happened. Regardless of my surname, when I was scribbling amendments in my notebook, between resisting the urge to trip my children as they continually ran up and down the lounge, I never expected for the Ryder Cup captains, ESPN, the Golf Channel, and the British media, to be discussing me."
Not much else in the full article was quite so conciliatory, with PJ pretty much blaming everyone else for paying attention to what he'd written and glossing over the fact that it was supposed to be funny. On the eve of his brother's first ever Ryder Cup.
Read it four yourselves. One thing I will agree 100% with him, though is, yes the article was 'ill-timed'....
After all has been said and done, Danny Willett sums up his first Ryder Cup experience
