Now an official European Tour destination
Words: James Greenwood
Bom Sucesso, in Portugal, is the latest member of the exclusive European Tour Properties network, and has become an official European Tour Destination.
The Óbidos resort, just north of Lisbon, is located on the banks of a lagoon with both inland and sea views and offers not just an 18-hole Championship golf course but 601 houses in an eye-catching array of architectural styles.
The project, recognised by the Portuguese government as a “Project of National Interest”, involved 23 Masters of Contemporary Architecture to create an innovative and unique luxury tourist resort.
A five star hotel is under development as part of the site, complete with an extensive range of leisure facilities and services including a luxury spa.
Pedro Portugal, CEO of Bom Sucesso, said: “We are very proud to become a member of an exclusive network like European Tour Properties and we are looking forward to working together in developing our destination over the coming years.
“We have created a contemporary destination where modern architecture merges into the natural beauty of the Óbidos lagoon. The resort masterplan was created by WATG and involved 23 architects, including two holders of the world-renowned Pritkzer architecture prize, Portuguese Álvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto de Moura.
Bom Sucesso is the third new addition to the European Tour Properties network in 2016, joining Lighthouse Golf & Spa Resort, in Bulgaria, and Albatross Golf Resort, in Czech Republic, as the latest members of the exclusive group.
