Bill Murray has raised $1 million in funding for his golf-clothing brand, William Murray Golf, and he has got some big hitters on board.
The first round of funding has come from investors including the Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts, ex tennis star Andy Roddick, and actors Ed Norton, Mark Paul-Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer.
There’s also real estate magnate Mike Meldman, actress/model Brooklyn Decker and country music star Jake Owen to complete the investor line up.
Murray’s irreverence with his apparel brand –was a major part of the appeal for investors like Owen.
“They want to have fun with the game of golf while making it more appealing to a wider audience,” says Owen.
The investment comes the time of the brand’s new autumn collection and will allow William Murray Golf to continue its “rapid growth and disruption” of the golf apparel market, said CEO Joel Murray.
The brand officially launched back in Autumn 2016, so it is now just one year old. It’s vey much a family business, as six of Murray’s brothers are involved in it.
The logo is styled after his casual club toss at the 2011 Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
