10 1/2 foot Burmese Python found on golf course

In Florida

Emergency services in Florida captured a massive 10 1/2–foot Burmese python spotted by school kids near an abandoned golf course.

Miami–Dade Fire Rescue said officials responded Monday afternoon to a location at Keys Gate on a report of a large snake, but they hadn't expected a 10–foot, 6–inch Burmese python!

Lt. Scott Mulling located the snake and captured it with his bare hands!

According to Erika Benitez, public information officer for Miami–Dade Fire Rescue:

"Burmese pythons, famous invaders of the Florida Everglades, although they pose little threat to humans, can take down animals as large as alligators and deer."

Well, that’s a relief then!
