Easter Special - the bacon buttie
Words: Ollie Tabooger
Playing golf this weekend? Couple of extra days off work? If you’ve making your own brekkie before you hit the fairways how about trying this little beauty. Simple to make and goes down like Diego Costa.
FaNaaaaaaa – we give you the hot cross bacon butty.
Prep time: How long does it take to open a packet?
Cooking time: Couple of minutes
Calories: Who cares, it’s Easter.
Method:
Cook the bacon. The best type to use is dry cured as it doesn’t ooze that nasty white stuff when it cooks. You can either fry it or grill it, doesn’t matter.
Whilst the bacon is cooking get some oranges and squeeze yourself a nice glass of juice. Don’t buy it ready done, it’s easy and if you don’t have a squeezer just use a fork and the strength in your hand. Good warm up exercise for later.
Cut the hot cross bun in half and put in toaster – careful not to burn it. This also works with un-toasted buns if you prefer.
Now make yourself a great big mug of tea (or coffee). I don’t like coffee so I always go for the tea option. It’s good to be hydrated before playing golf and if you drink lots now you’ve got enough time for a couple of quick loo stops before you tee off.
Put the bacon in the hot cross bun and voila! Breakfast of champions.
Thanks to Sainsbury's and Olie Tabooger for this inspiration.
