Irish Legends centre stage at Rosapenna
With an exclusive half-price ticket offer
Golf fans are making the most of a fantastic limited-time deal to witness old foes clash and famous faces compete at the Irish Legends presented by the McGinley Foundation in August.
The action-packed Legends Tour event will see four days of golf hosted at Rosapenna Hotel & Golf Resort and customers can purchase half-price tickets until August 8 via an early-bird ticket promotion and media partner Golf Monthly. Customers are urged to book in advance as no discounts will be available beyond this date.
Paul Lawrie, The Open Championship winner from 1999, will lock horns again with Jean van de Velde, who famously blew a three-shot lead on the final hole at Carnoustie 23 years ago before losing to the Scot in a play-off. The pair will be joined by host Paul McGinley, who will kick off his Legends Tour campaign, while 2005 US Open winner Michael Campbell will also be in the field.
Before some of the best senior players test themselves on the County Donegal links from August 18-20, a Celebrity Series event will see stars from the world of sport and showbiz tee it up on Tuesday, August 16. Legendary Gaelic football manager Jim Gavin, actor and presenter Jimmy Nesbitt, and musicians Daniel O’Donnell, Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden will all take centre stage.
Tickets remain available for all five golf days, and a limited-time early booking offer means you can get up to 50 per cent off a day ticket. Adult tickets are currently available for €10 (normal price €15) and, if booked through Golf Monthly, are just €7.50.
Seniors over 50 can also take advantage of the early booking prices of €8 (€10 after the deal ends) and under 16s will be admitted free of charge. Early booking discounts currently apply to season passes for the whole event as well, with tickets for the four days costing just €20 for adults (normal price €25) and €15 for seniors (normal price €20). Golf Monthly ticket discount offers also apply for seniors and season passes.
The popular event is supported by Fáilte Ireland (the National Tourism Development Authority of the Republic of Ireland) who continue to invest in and support golf tourism in Ireland. Other key partners include Tourism Northern Ireland and the Donegal Tourist Board.
Away from the course, Donegal County Council will stage two concerts on the grounds of the adjacent Na Dúnaibh GAA pitch on Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20. All golf spectators will receive FREE access to the concert on their ticket day. Country music star Nathan Carter is set to headline the festival.
This will be the second Irish Legends tournament the Rosapenna links has hosted in as many years, with the event returning to the senior circuit following an 11-year absence in 2021. Thomas Bjørn claimed his maiden Legends Tour win with a birdie on the second play-off hole to end the challenge of Welshman Phillip Price last year.
Phil Harrison, chief executive officer of the Legends Tour, said: “August will be an exciting month for the Legends Tour and we are delighted to be heading to Rosapenna Hotel & Golf Resort for a second time in as many years.
“We are expecting a great event at the superb course where the local crowds will play a huge part, and these ticket reductions are in place to give more people the opportunity to see greats from the world of golf and entertainment at an affordable cost.”
Although playing experiences for the Alliance Series at Rosapenna have sold out, the Legends Tour still has limited places available to live the life of a golf ‘Legend’ in front of crowds and TV cameras in the Celebrity Series at the exquisite links at Rosapenna. These experiences provide amateur golfers unrivalled once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to rub shoulders with the golfing greats.
