Team Pedersen out front in Saudi

Spain’s Luna Sobron Galmes made a sensational move to the top of the individual standings at the Saudi Ladies Team International, firing a course-record equalling seven-under-par 65 to take a one-shot lead from Denmark’s Emily Kristine Pedersen at ten-under-par.

Trailing by a stroke in the individual standings after a sublime 66 (-6), Pedersen did, however, manage to spearhead her team, which includes Scotland’s Michele Thomson and South Africa’s Casandra Hall, to a two-shot lead at 27-under-par from Team Nututinen in the team format.
With a chance to make history with a Saudi sweep of all three titles, last week’s winner continued to show just how much she enjoys Royal Greens Golf & Country Club, adding another five birdies and an eagle to her tally, and demonstrating exactly why she is one of the hottest players in the world right now. 
“We are keeping our spirits high, making lots of birdies and we are looking great for tomorrow. My focus is on the team this week and I am going to do my best regardless, for the team or the individual, and I hope I can keep making birdies and we can get it done as a team tomorrow.”

Scottish teammate Michele Thomson added, “I think we are loving playing together and having a good time. It’s a great new event and we are here for Emily to make all the birdies and we are here to make all the pars. I don’t think she realises how nice it is for us to be part of her team it gives us a confidence boost that she picked us and we’re looking forward to tomorrow.”
Heading the individual standings with one round to go is Luna Sobron Galmes.
The Spanish star might be in search of her maiden LET title in her 33rd appearance, but the 26-year-old from Majorca compiled an impressive course-record equalling score which included a hole-out eagle on the par four 17th from 73 meters, having already made seven birdies and two bogeys.

“I hit the ball really good. I think I only missed one green and the key to my round was the putter. I feel like you have to be accurate with your long game on this course and luckily I like to play with the wind, which I did yesterday and last week.”
Finishing in solo sixth last week, Sobron has been in fine form of late, winning on the LETAS last month, having come through a gruelling eight-hole playoff, and will need to fight again tomorrow with the likes of Race to Costa del Sol leader Emily Kristine Pedersen, Solheim Cup player Anne Van Dam and Finland’s Sanna Nuutinen breathing down her neck.
Last week’s runner-up Georgia Hall, bounced back from the misery of losing in a play-off and backed up an opening 75 (+3) with another 65 (-7), having posted the same number last Thursday in the first round of the Saudi Ladies International. She currently sits in T6, one behind fellow Englishwoman Charley Hull, who signed for a round of 69 to sit in solo fifth.
