Fantasy Fourball: Gary Evans
I know that Muhammad Ali is at the top of most people’s list of sporting heroes and with good reason. He’s different gravy, as a sportsman and a human being. If he hadn’t already appeared in so many Fantasy 4Balls he’d definitely be on my list.
Another name that’s a bit more random is Simon Cowell. He doesn’t mind telling it like it is, which is increasingly rare these days. He’d be in the squad for sure, as would Jack Nicholson – I remember being completely spooked out seeing him at The K Club one time. He’s got real presence. There aren’t many who’ve got that special something – Seve and Tiger are two that have. Sergio is a real character and Ernie Els is the bollocks.
When he won the 2002 Open he went AWOL celebrating for three days.
The three partners I’d choose aren’t necessarily people I’d want to be mates with, but they’d be fascinating company.
You can’t tell me you wouldn’t have loved to have a glimpse of the life that Hugh Hefner has lived over the past 40 years. Frank Sinatra’s life was amazing. He went from being a nobody to the biggest star in America, he mixed with JFK, Marilyn Monroe and some pretty nasty operators if we’re to believe all the stories.
The final piece of the jigsaw is Richard Boxall. Along with Eamonn Darcy and Tony Johnstone he’s the best company you’d ever want to have on a golf course. Never mind the quality of the golf – the stories would be legendary!”
